Paulina Otylie Surys

1979 Leszno, Poland

Surys

Paulina’s work involves the physical manipulation of analog pictures taken and hand processed by herself; an approach that combines her formal training as a fine art painter with her photographic practice. Countering the current age of mass produced digital photography, she embraces mistakes and acquaints us with unique objects, hand crafted on paper, metal, glass and other materials, often hand painted in several layers, collaged or embroidered. The results are illusory, ludicrous and sublime at the same time.

Her work has appeared in numerous magazines such as VISION China, Vogue It online, Vanity Fair, Collaboration – with Mother of Pearl and SHOW Studios, DROME, VOGUE.com online, The British Journal of Photography, AnOther Man, Wonderland, among others.

She lives and works in London (United Kingdom).
